ECU Remapping

All vehicles have a standard ECU which is programmed by the manufacturer as a one size to fit all.

If you are looking to improve fuel efficiency and /or the performance of your vehicle, we offer an ECU Remapping Service.

As a certified installer for BHP UK and with several years’ experience, Stourbridge Automotive Ltd provide ECU Remapping services including engine tuning for Audi, BMW, BMW Mini, Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover & Range Rover vehicles.

Certain vehicle owners require a more tailored ECU (Electronic Control Unit – brain of the car) that will improve the response of the engine power and the overall performance of the vehicle, including improved acceleration and a smoother feel in the power.

In addition, Stourbridge Automotive will also remove speed limiters, if fitted as standard by the manufacturers.

Mr P. of Stourbridge – November 2017
Mercedes E350 : 64 Plate

“What a huge difference the engine remapping by Stourbridge Automotive has made to my Merc.  I was sceptical at first about the claims being made but I put my trust in the SA team and went for it.  Okay, the price was nearly twice that of the promotional OBD offer but I did understand more work was involved to get to the embedded data on my car.

It wasn’t as straightforward as the plugging in their BHP UK ‘gizmo’ and grabbing the files. They had to take out the Engine Control Unit (ECU), take that apart, and use jigs to access the circuit board data that way.

I didn’t tell them I’d worked for 15 years in advanced electronics manufacturing so knew exactly what they were explaining to me.

I booked the car in for two days. In reality it didn’t take them that long to finish the work and called me the following morning to say it was ready to pick up.  Great news!  So what was the result?

  • Improved MPG? – Certainly 8 MPG up on urban.
  • Improved cold engine running?  Yes.
  • And how about performance? – Most definitely!
  • The forecast increase from the stock – 250 BHP to 300 BHP and torque up from 620Nm to now 700Nm has given my E350 a driving ‘Wow’ factor… not to mention a huge grin on my face when I drive it.
  • Spending £400 to get a grin on my face like that – was priceless the wife said!”
