Discs & Brakes Pads

When replacing brake discs and brake pads, we only use genuine and OE (Original Equipment) parts are always used.

Brakes – Keeping You Safe on the Road

Your vehicle’s braking system is one of the most crucial safety components, ensuring you can stop quickly and effectively when needed. Regular brake maintenance is essential for safe driving, as worn or faulty brakes can lead to increased stopping distances and reduced control. At Stourbridge Automotive, we understand the importance in maintaining, repairing or replacing brakes. So as part of every vehicle service we carry out, our technicians inspect the condition of your brake discs and measure the depth of friction material remaining on the brake pads, to provide you with clarity and confidence knowing the condition of your brakes.

Brake Pads

Brake pads are a key component of your braking system, designed to create friction when pressed against the brake discs to slow or stop your vehicle. Over time, they wear down and require replacement to maintain optimal performance. Worn brake pads can lead to reduced braking efficiency and increased wear on other brake components. Regular checks ensure they remain in good condition.

We only use genuine and OE (Original Equipment) parts for replacement.

Brake Discs

Brake discs, work in conjunction with the brake pads to create the friction needed to stop your vehicle. If the discs become warped, cracked, or excessively worn, they can cause vibrations and decreased stopping power. We inspect and replace brake discs as necessary, according to your vehicles manufacturer’s requirements ensuring smooth and effective braking performance.

We only use genuine and OE (Original Equipment) parts for replacement.

Brake Fluid

Brake fluid transfers the force from your brake pedal to the braking components, making it essential for proper function. Brake fluid is hygroscopic meaning it can absorb moisture, reducing its effectiveness and potentially increasing your stopping distances. Regular brake fluid flushes, which are usually recommended every two to three years help maintain responsive and reliable braking, particularly in high-performance and heavier SUV vehicles.

Brake Calipers

Brake calipers house the brake pads and apply pressure to the discs when you press the brake pedal. If calipers become seized or malfunction, they can cause uneven braking, excessive wear and noisy braking. Our team inspect and clean any sliding parts or surfaces when replacing brake pads ensuring they are free of corrosion and any debris build up, this allows the components to move freely for the best braking efficiency and stopping power.

ABS (Anti-lock Braking System)

Modern vehicles are equipped with ABS to prevent wheels from locking up during sudden braking, this works by modulating the braking pressure multiple times per second to give you the most braking force without causing the wheels to lock. This system improves control and reduces skidding, especially in wet or icy conditions. If your ABS warning light is illuminated or you notice reduced braking performance, it’s important to get it checked as soon as possible.
