2024 Calendar Year Dates

Its’ 2024! Renewal dates for your calendar

As we welcome in the new year for 2024, the focus for most is to get those all-important renewal dates on the calendar, to ensure that we know where we are.

By being prepared for aspects like an annual MOT Test and Servicing or Tax and Insurance renewals, will not only save you money, but it will also reduce the likelihood of a fine, should any of your renewals lapse.

Renewal dates to keep in mind for 2024

When is your MOT Test due?

Did you know that a lapsed MOT test could cost you a fine of up to £1000? Be mindful that automotive workshops can book up quickly for MOT Tests and so the earlier which you can book a MOT Test, the better. Also, please remember that you don’t have to have the MOT Test on the same date as the previous year and can book it for up 30 days in advance; ideal if you need some flexibility around other commitments.

Stourbridge Automotive recommends that when booking a MOT Test, to also book in for a vehicle service as an addition if required. This means that our qualified vehicle technicians can provide a thorough vehicle check and can raise any queries with owner / drivers before the main MOT Test, to reduce the likelihood of a test failure. If the vehicle does fail the test, owner / drivers are reminded that they have up to 14 days to repair the vehicle and take a re-test at no extra cost.

Vehicle Tax

Vehicle Tax is collected monthly, yearly or six monthly. Ensure that you know when your payment is due and so that your tax doesn’t lapse. Failure to do so could result in a fine of up to £180 (reduced to £40 if paid within 28 days) and your vehicle being classed as un-roadworthy. Vehicle Insurance

Vehicle Insurance is renewed annually. Often insurers will notify customers as to when their insurance premium is due, however as a customer, its always worth keeping an independent eye on the renewal date to give you some time to research other insurance deals in advance. Remember that by staying with the same insurer, doesn’t necessarily mean that you are receiving the best deal! Use money comparison websites and re-contact your insurer to see if they can re-evaluate your deal to save yourself some money.

Driving License Renewal

Driving Licenses are less regular in their renewal requirement – now every 10 years. To check this, please see the renewal date which appears on the front of your photocard driving license. Ensure that yours is within date and that you are mindful as to when it expires. Remember UK drivers are not allowed to drive a vehicle without a valid license.
