With the UK weather warming up, you may find that on the ‘odd’ day, you have already began switching on the in-car air-conditioning system.
For long journeys on hot days, vehicle air-conditioning can feel like a lifeline. Keeping your driver and passengers cool, not only makes a journey more comfortable but can also reduce that lethargic driving feeling from too much heat, whilst sitting behind the wheel.
To ensure that your own vehicle’s air-conditioning system is running in tip top condition, this summer our team of professionally trained air-conditioning technicians are on-hand to carry out air conditioning servicing for your Audi, BMW, BMW MINI, Mercedes, Jaguar, Land Rover & Range Rover.
Air Conditioning Inspection check list
Throughout our air-conditioning service inspection, our Stourbridge Automotive technicians will carry out the following:
1. Fault memory check.
2. Visual inspection of components, with replacement of pollen filter as required.
3. Connect AC machine to check system pressures.
4. Evacuate air conditioning system recording amount of refrigerant, & oil recovered from the AC system.
5. The AC system is then subject to a 30 minutes vacuum to make sure that all old refrigerant is recovered & to dry out moisture.
6. The vacuum is then held for ten minutes to check for major leaks on AC system.
7. If no leaks are found the correct amount of refrigerant is then injected into the AC system, along with UV dye or oil as required.
8. Fault memory is cleared.
9 The AC system is then checked for correct / efficient operation.
Did you know?
- UV dye can help to locate small leaks on the AC system, as the dye is circulated around the system. If there is a small leak, this can often be later found by examining the components with a UV lamp. The lamp will show the system leaks as a green glow, indicating the area of the leak.
- AC systems are very useful all year round. During the summer months, it helps to cool the vehicle interior, whilst in the wetter autumn & winter months, it will help to demist the vehicle windows, drying the moisture from inside the car. This works with the heating setting and not just the cold dial settings.
- It is recommended that the Air Conditioning system is serviced at least once every two years
